School Lockers, Stamford HIgh School, Lincolnshire

Stamford High School is an independent school for girls aged from 3 -18 years. Located in the picturesque town of Stamford in Lincolnshire, it still stands on the same site and in the same beautiful buildings since it's opening in 1877.

The Brief:

The school contacted us looking to replace their existing lockers with something more colourful and vibrant than the all grey lockers they already had. Although in good condition, their lockers made the corridors and changing rooms look dull and uninspiring.

Having seen our previous work with other schools, they decided that we were the best company to use, to bring their vision to life and they set us the challenge of making it happen.

The Solution:

When it comes to lockers, we love colour. In the past, lockers were always all about function rather than form, and this made them unpopular with architects and interior designers. Thankfully those days are now behind us, and now lockers really can be an integral part of the fabric of the building, and as much of a feature as any of the other internal fixtures.

In order to make the lockers really special, we proposed manufacturing the frames in black rather than grey. This really helps make bright colours stand out, and draws the eye away from the frames and to the doors.

We also manufactured the lockers in a larger size to ensure that the students could store everything they would need on a day-to-day basis. The school loved the end result and we think it looks quite smart too.
