Our story starts in August 2008 when our Founder and Managing Director, Ashley Morrison, was celebrating the birth of his daughter. The world was in the grips of the largest banking crisis since the Wall Street crash in the 1920’s and Ashley was a Sales Manager for a major locker manufacturer.
No more than an hour after his wife gave birth, Ashley received the call that would change everything. He was being made redundant. The new Managing Director was looking for efficiencies, and personal situations were never going to affect this.
Ashley had a decision to make; does he look for another job when the labour market was full of redundant Sales Managers or does he go it alone? He chose the latter.
Armed with a basic business plan, Ashley approached most high street banks for a business loan, but because of the crisis, no-one would lend, so it was time to get creative.
Back then, there was no such thing as simple website template packages, so using a Dummies Guide, Ashley designed his first (very basic) website and decided upon the name Lockertek. Working from a tiny desk and sitting on the end of his bed, he went about getting the name out there, and so Lockertek was born.
The first year and a half were really touch and go on several occasions. He considered giving up, but something just kept him going. Not long after, the business really started to take off. The hard work was starting to pay dividends and Lockertek’s reputation was growing fast.
As the business grew, Ashley needed help, so his wife Kerry, a scientist by trade, joined the company. In 2010, Lockertek won eight awards for ‘innovation’ and ‘customer service’, and in 2012, relocated to Norfolk where the team has really grown, and now operates from it’s brand new Head Office in Snetterton Park.
Today, Lockertek is the largest independent locker services company in the UK and supplies thousands of trade and end user customers per year.
